Sometimes siblings just don’t get along. And then sometimes you get moments like these:

Jeff and I caught them being nice to one another and cuddling in a blanket while watching Dora.

And you can’t take a picture of only two of the children. You must take a picture of all of them.

There is one in every crowd.
But since they were getting along, I thought I would catch up on a little bit of this:

I thought I would give you sneak peak at the current quilt I have in the works for my bed:

There is a story to the naming of the quilt.

While I was making this quilt, Carley decided she needed to cut some fabric with my rotary cutter. For anyone who may not know what a rotary cutter, it is basically a razor blade on a stick used for cutting fabric in very straight lines.
Well, she sliced open her index finger on her left hand. We had to make a four hour trip to the emergency room for some stitches.

So in memory of Carley trying to use the rotary tool (And to mama’s who fail to close them like they should and then walk away) I named this quilt “SLICED”.

We had a snow day yesterday!

I got a call from a co-worker letting me know not to come into work friday but I did not bother to get out of bed at the time and see why. (however, I sort of figured there was snow because my co-workers don’t usually call me at weird hours telling me not to come in to work, not on purpose anyway plus the weatherman had been calling for snow all week long. I just really did not believe them.)

So when Hayden got out of bed around 8:30 am, I told him to look out the window. (note, I was still in bed also!)

at first he was a little unsure as to why I was asking him to look out the window, but then he saw snow. He instantly ran outside.
IN HIS PAJAMAS!

He immediately ran back inside letting me know “that snow is cold”

we are not equiped for snow days.

We don’t have proper gloves, hats, winter coats or boots. They usually are not needed out here. Winter is very short and fairly mild. Carley has on two different mittens and a baby hat.

in fact, all Landon could find was Jeff’s ski boots to keep his feet warm.

but we searched around and got dressed up and went out to play for a bit. By the time we got out there, the snow was already starting to melt. most of it would not make it through the day.

It was fluffy snow. Landon could not even make proper snowball. but he tried several times to get us with one.

Jeff had on his usual attire for winter. His wardrobe does not depend on the seasons. I am surprised he put on the jacket.

I am sitting at the computer feeling a bit chilled and browsing through the pictures I have uploaded on flickr. I could go and just get a blanket to warm up but while I browse but then I see these photos.

For one day we made it to the beach this year. Just one day! Boy was it hot that day. I remember having to drag that drink cooler from the car thinking to myself –why did I not get Jeff to do this job?

We stopped by gulf shores Alabama on our way home from a long trip to Tennessee. The beach is too much fun. I wish we could do it every year.

I don’t think Landon got out of the water for about 6 hours!

Perfect time for a nap.

but somehow Lightening McQueen got burried in the sand and did not make it home. It was too bad because we had fun playing hide n go seek in the car with him.

but I do not recommend going to the beach and watching “Shark week” on discovery at the same time.
And so now I am not feeling so chilled anymore. I hope we can go back to the beach again next year.

Landon: Hey mom I want to catch something on fire.
Mom: we call people who do that pyromaniacs
Landon: Can I start a fire?
Mom: go rub two sticks together.
He has been rubbing two sticks together for days. I have got to get a picture of it.

And to think all I really wanted was a nice picture of Landon with his boy scout uniform on for the blog.

I just love to go camping. I just love sleeping outside snuggled under warm sleeping bags, roasting marshmellows by the fire or taking long walks through the woods. Just thinking about camping makes me want to go camping. I love how the kids love to explore new lands and enjoying seeing new animals or bugs. It just makes me happy.
I decided to take the kids camping with a group from church. Jeff had to work and could not make it at the last minute but I braved spending the weekend alone with the children in a tent and set out for Ft. Davis Texas for some fun in the mountains.

Unfortunately, I ended up being so busy with the kids I forgot to take many pictures. I was so disappointed when I got home and found out I took only a few photos.

Hayden managed to take one of me on this same overlook. Hayden, Carley and I went out for a drive through the mountains trying to get Carley to take a nap. She really needed it and we acheived a bit a peace and quite while it we were cruising with the windows down, wind blowing through our hair, and feeling the cool breeze on our face. I would like to do that again.

While we were driving, Landon was taking a hike. He was begging me all weekend to go on a long hike. Well, I can take a two year old on a long hike. She could never walk that far and I forgot to bring the backpack to carry her in. (probably would not fit in the car anyway)
So I let him do a 3 mile hike with some friends from church.

Here he is coming down off the hike and finishing up. Everyone said they could not keep up with him. He really likes hiking.
He likes it so much that I would like to take him backpacking one day.
Landon was very disappointed that the camping trip was only a weekend trip. We left on Friday at lunch time and returned sunday afternoon. so i have already promised him that we will take a longer trip in the spring. I was thinking about New Mexico in the mountains!

We went over to a friends house the other day. And he has great toys for the kids!

We were at his house for a little over two hours and I don’t think that Landon got off that go cart for five minutes. Not even to get a drink when the temp outside was over 100 degrees.

we found some eggs in his back yard from some hens that just roam around the area. I was wondering if they were actually going to hatch or would they be boiled with the high temps.

anyway, then we found the hens. I captioned the above picture “tribute to M. Jackson by Hayden” It sort of looks like he doing the thriller dance.

carley loved those hens and was chasing them around everywhere.

All they want to know now is, when can we go back!

You are never too young in our house to start training for something.

Talking on the phone is no exception.

I told her not to talk with her mouth full. I just did not have the heart to tell her it was a calculator and not an actual phone.
