Landon: Hey mom I want to catch something on fire.
Mom: we call people who do that pyromaniacs
Landon: Can I start a fire?
Mom: go rub two sticks together.
He has been rubbing two sticks together for days. I have got to get a picture of it.

And to think all I really wanted was a nice picture of Landon with his boy scout uniform on for the blog.

I noticed today that Hayden is crazy. He does things that make me raise my eyebrows from time to time. For example, I was clipping his toenails and fingernails yesterday. all the while this was going on he was so fasinated by it (like I have not clipped his nails a thousand times); that he was losing all feeling in his mouth and drooling on me. I had to stop more than once to kindly tell him to stop spitting on me. he just could not keep the spit in his mouth.
Or better still how about this exchange:
Mama: Hayden get dressed it is time for school.
Hayden: oh, I want Batman.
Mama: I think Batman is dirty.
(5 minutes later)
Mama: Hayden, why are you still naked. go pick out some clothes and get dressed.
Hayden: you pick it out.
Mama: No you pick it out yourself
Hayden: I want Batman
Mama: Batman is dirty
Hayden: you pick it out
Mama: ok (walk over to his dresser full of clothes, pull out drawer of shirts, notice Batman shirt wadded up in corner of drawer with dirt from the garden still on it)
Mama: How about this nice yellow shirt with a frog on the front
Hayden: pick this one, pick THIS one (pointing to Batman shirt wadded up and stuffed into corner of drawer)
I don’t really think there was any other option in this situation.

The boys wanted mohawks. So I told them we could go into the bathroom and put mouse in their hair and make it stand up. here are the results:

Always the clown this one!

Carley does not like his hair.

Landon turned six today. I told him that he was not born until 12:10 pm so technically he was not six until that time. Therefore, he had to wait until then to get cake and presents. I kind of enjoy messing with him sometimes.

He helped me make his cake and even made the color for the lettering. He really wanted red but it kept coming out pink so he added blue to make purple. It turned out nice.

I am holding Hayden back with my other arm because he really wanted to have a birthday and blow out candles too. Hayden even helped with the unwrapping of gifts.

Grandma sent him this pogo stick and it was a huge hit. He has been working very hard to learn how to bounce on the pogo.

Birthdays are just not possible without balloons.

Grandma also sent this Leggo Starwars fighter plane. It was a lot of fun to put together.
Landon wanted to eat at McDonalds for lunch and bounce on the pogo all day. All in all I will call this a good day.

Some weeks I have writers block. During those times, I am hard pressed to find something to share in blog land. Other times, like today, topics are are just gifts from God to brighten my day.

Landon: Look Mom
Mama: ha ha ha ha ha — ROFL— Landon that is perminant marker!
Landon: Gosh I’ve done it
Mama: (ROFL)
Landon: what does perminant mean?
Mama: (still laughing) It won’t come off
Landon: will it come off with soap
Mama: Not for a few days
Landon: will it come off with soap and water
Mama: Eventually
Landon: Gosh I’ve done it
Mama: you will have to wear that face to school tomorrow.
Landon: how many days will I look like this?
Landon: will it be on my face when we go to Grandmas?
Landon: Is dad going to see my face?
Mama: (still laughing)
30 Minutes later
Landon: Mama are you still laughing?
Mama: (still laughing)

We are coming down off the sugar high of halloween 2008 and I have pictures! It was a great day. We had a parade at school and once again we went to trunk or treat at Church. I just love trunk or treat. The church fills the parking lot with trucks and volunteers sit on the tailgates and pass out candy. The kids get to go from trunk to trunk– trick or treating. It is so much fun and less scary than going door to door. Here are the highlights:

Everyone loves a superhero!

Who does not love Bob the builder!

And Minni Mouse– precious! I made the ears but she only kept them on for about 30 seconds.

I am the pretty pretty princess today! I wanted to be Mrs. America but I just did not have any time to get something together. Same goes for the boys– you may remember these repeat costumes from years past but I just did not want to fork out $20 for each of them a costume that they wear a few times per year. So I told them we could get creative and make them something or they could dig through the dress up drawer and wear something we already have. Especially since Landon wanted to be superman again this year and Hayden wanted to be Batman (Which he was for 1/2 of the day until he pooped in the pants) So we switched to builder Bob which he really liked once I gave him a few tools to hold on to.

He is showing off his tools here.

She is already taking the ears off.

The night is just not complete without a romp through the bounce house.

Overall is was a really great night. I am already looking forward to next year!
Happy Halloween!

Lesson #2: if you have a loose tooth, Don’t eat an apple! Or you may swallow the tooth.

He has another one loose– it will go soon. I hope he does not swallow the next one!

No loose teeth here!
Conversations with Landon #5
Mom: Ok boys here is a small list of items I would like for my Birthday on Friday!
Landon: Read the list to us
Mom: Salt and pepper shakers, other kitchen items and a book.
Landon: I wish you would add a trampoline to that list. A trampoline would be so much fun for your birthday.
I wonder who that would be a gift for?

As a boy, it was said about Abraham Lincoln had “his due proportion of harmless mischief.” I believe that all little boys fall into this category from time to time.
My boys are no exception to this statement.
We are having trouble with our neighbor’s dogs. They keep digging under our fence and getting into our yard. Not a big deal until you throw two boys into the picture and you get something like this:

A new found mud hole. It did not start out as mud hole. It started our with the boys digging for earthworms in the hole left behind where the dogs were digging.
Then the “due proportion of harmless mischief” was in full effect when they turned on the water hose and created the Mud hole.

Mud bath!

A little dirt never hurt!

Landon’s mud mask. Come on by and try one of these mud masks, sure to make you look and feel years younger.

I think they need this harmless mischief every now and then. It certainly makes life a little more fun.
