Did you know that they actually expect me to work while I am “at work” and not play on the computer all day? the nerve of them.
so I did not get my goals for the year down yesterday. Because I was actually working for a good part of the day.Which left very little time for computer work. I should have suspected the first day back after a long holiday would be like that.
But get real monday was of little success. I did not get out of bed on time which resulted in me being late to work (again). Which ironically coincided with my supervisor letting me know I have a performance evalution coming up at the end of the month.
Have no fear dear friends, I am not worried. but I do need to get on with it because I have an instrument 40 miles up the road in need of some TLC…..
For 2010 I have decided I need to set some goals. Typically I don’t like the set goals ( I would just break them anyway) and statistically speaking most new years resolutions are forgotten by about middle of February. Which may hold true for me also, but hey, I just need something to work towards this year.
As I stated in a previous post about getting the kids to eat their veggies. This has been only mildly successful. I think I may need to put a lock on the refridgerator to keep the two youngest children out of there. They are filling up on milk, cheese, and yogurt (all good things) and still not eating any veggies. I have put veggies on their plates every night in some fashion and they won’t touch the stuff. They have even gone to bed hungry and that has not even worked. But I am hoping to get them to slowly change over the course of the year. There is still hope for them.
So here is the run down–
1. Eat more veggies. I am not sure what is the recommended requirement for amout of veggies per day but I need to get there. Alittle more brocilli and a little less chocolate. This should be a little better for my thighs.
2. Start running again. I use to run. I would never classify me as a great runner but I could run. I would run even when not being chased. So I want to work on trying to run a 1/2 marathon by the end of the year. The Dallas/White Rock Lake marathon in is the beginning of December. I will work toward that. This too might work wonders for my thighs.
3. Finish all works in progress and NOT START ANYTHING NEW! I have 1 quilt that I need to finish quilting and then bind. I have another that is in the beginning stages and I just signed up for the block of the month club over at the Quilting Patch. If that does not keep me occupied all year, I don’t know what will. I also have all of 2009 to scrap. Oh yes, I still scrapbook. It was my orginal hobby love. Now it comes in a close third after cooking and quilting. This will not do anything for my thighs but will do something for my peace of mind.
4. Stay more organized. When 5 people live in 1150 square feet you have to be organized or things get messy really quickly. Jeff and I had a spring cleaning day on Saturday. It was marvelous. I had the boys scrubbing baseboards and bathrooms. House looks great. but it needs to stay that way. So my moto for 2010 “Everything has a place, so put it there!”
5. I am going to be taking a computer break for a bit. I need to decided if I want to keep this blog going for another two years. I may be gone until after spring break which is the third week in March. I might be back sooner. I have not decided yet. but I need to refresh and clear my brain. You will still be able to reach me by email.
I guess that is it. It seemed like more when it was in my head.

Tomorrow is back to work. My 2 1/2 week holiday is coming to an end. I am a little bummed out. I love being at home. Piddeling around the house and doing nothing important what so ever.
So tomorrow is GET REAL MONDAY. Not today. I am not entirely sure what that is going to mean for me tomorrow, I just know that I am going to be getting back to business but I am going to think about some changes. Just thinking about my routines and getting out of bed before 9 am frightens me just a bit. I have grown acustom to staying up late and then sleeping in the past two weeks that tomorrow is going to be a rough morning. As the saying goes, “The early bird gets the worm” Well, I use to get the worm all the time and now I really like my warm soft bed. Who needs the worm. Don’t even talk to me about daylight savings time. But I am digressing from the point.
I am going to try a few new things this year. They have been swirling around my head for about a week now. Tomorrow I am going to officially put them down on paper and then post them here.
I will see back her tomorrow.

Today is starting out to be a great day at the office. Here is what happened.
Some company is offering a mini course today in the classroom right across the hall from my office. They were having some technical difficulties and sought my assistance.
They claimed that the projector would not read their power point and display it on the screen.
I walked up to the computer.
I pressed the power switch on the computer.
They told me I was soooo smart.
Later on they kept turning off the projector while trying to advance the slides on their powerpoint.
I was forced to take the remote control away from them.
I felt like I was in an episode of “The Office.”

Well, I guess I will just go ahead and tell you that my big surprise for 2009 was video blogs. See, we have a web cam attached to our monitor and I wanted to do some video blogs. But I am having trouble with the code to get it on the web site and getting the audio and video in sync. And frankly, with the home decorating project I have going on, I simply don’t have the time to learn new code.
In addition, my IT friend Mac, decided last week he needed to go to college–In Pennsylvania! And he moved last week. I am sad he is gone because who is going to help me with all my web design questions.
So this is my shout out to Mac– The kid who really does know everything about web design!
But have no fear– decorating has begun!

Jeff and I simply could not decide what to do with this giant door. But we have neighbors behind us who shine a light so bright at night, it lights up our entire house. So we decided we needed something to block that light at night. We looked at many ways of covering this door and this is what we came up with. These are Micro suede black out curtains. We can close them at night and block that light. This is a lousy picture and the room is not finished but we are really liking our choice.
I think it is amazing how just adding curtains to a room changes the look and feel of the room. I already have a great fabric picked out for the other windows. It goes on sale wednesday and hopefully I will get them finished soon.
But have no fear– I should have Carley’s curtains up today and possible a little decor.
So come back soon.

My dear readers this is NOT the surprise I had planned for 2009. But until I get all the bugs worked out with the web site the surprise will just have to wait. I am diligently working on it daily until it is complete but it will most likely be a few more days. In the mean time……
Over new years, while I was hugging the toilet for unusual periods of time, I began to think about my previous 34 years. In my head I was evaluating things I may have done wrong in my life and patting my self on the back for things I “may” have done right. As I was laying in bed staring at this window in my bedroom:

It occurred to me that I never took home economics and that maybe I should have. Look at this pathetic room and window. I have a beautiful cedar chest that was hand made by my father in law for my wedding and just look at all the stuff stacked on top of it! No curtains, no wall hangings, nothing. Just white faux wood blinds with antique white walls. I don’t even have good sense to put the ironing board somewhere else. Ironically, it never gets used. I don’t iron! Why do I even keep it there?

Here is another view of the same window. Under the stuff on that little table is my sewing machine. Sad!
Then it hit me– I need a crash course in home ec or at least some curtains in this house. So I have decided to start 2009 off with a home decoration project. it is going to be intense. let’s see what I am up against:

Carley’s Room. Needs curtains and wall decorations. A rug would be nice in this room also.

Another wall in carley’s room. This huge antique white wall needs to be broken up with some decor.

Boys room. They need curtains. That is just about all I want to do for now in this room. At least they have Van gogh.
Now for the hard room: the living/dining combo room. It is long and narrow but we need curtains and wall hangings on this wall:

This two window and sliding door combo is a monster. I am not 100% sure what to do here. But curtains for the windows and that chair is getting recovered minimum.

Here is big problem. See that dog– he needs to go and stay off the couch. It is becoming an issue with him getting on the sofa all the time. It was ok when we had 3 sofas but since we only have one now due to the size of the room– He needs to go. Therefore, he is getting a dog bed and some retraining. I hope you can teach an old dog new tricks. but what to do with this wall. We really like the painting but it may need something else to go with it.

I saved the most pathetic for last. Lookat these family pics that have shifted in the frames and I have not even bothered to fix…….
As you can see by these pics, I have a mountain to climb. Lets recap and then I am going to throw out some ideas. for those of you out there who actually have decorating abilities, please feel free to make some decorating suggestions. Especially in the fabric choice area
1. My room: curtains and wall decorations. A new quilt for the bed is not out of the question and it is already picked out but not purchased. Colors: I was thinking blue or sage. but I really like Amy Butlers Midwest modern collection of fabrics– I may choose one from there and be a bit bold.
2. Carley’s room: curtains, wall decorations and maybe a rug. colors: light/soft pink with lime green. (lime green negotiable, pink is not) I already have the curtain pattern picked out, I just need the fabric.
3. Boys room: curtains only. I already have the pattern picked out. I just need fabric. Color?? I could go with any color.
4. Living/dining combo room: Curtains, wall decor, recover chair, and a dog bed. An ottoman for the chair and a rug is not out of the questions. Colors: I don’t know. Sofa is fairly neutral color and will go with any thing. I was thinking I will need at least 2 or 3 different coordinating fabrics. I do not have any patterns picked out for this room. it is last on my list and the biggest challenge.
So, pick out some fabrics for me. I will buy it and make it and you will get to see what it looks like!

Mama: what movie do you want to watch Hayden?
Hayden: Cars , Cars, Cars
Hayden: Watch it with us! Watch it with us!
Mama: Us, who is us. You got a mouse in the pocket or is Lightning McQueen in there?
Hayden: Watch it with us!
Mama: its watch it with me not us. watch it with me.
Hayden: Watch it with us
Mama: No its watch it with me. Repeat after me: watch it with ME.
Hayden: Watch it with YOU!
Three year olds….. Hmmmmmmm! I think lightning mcqueen just might be in that pocket!
Anyway we are starting 2009 out with a bang! Jeff told me on new years eve at about 11:30 that I really know how to bring in a new year right. And as soon as I get over this stomach virus I have had for 3 days now, I have some exciting stuff. I am breaking out of my shell for something new this year!! Come back in a few days for some surprises!

Best Wishes to all this Christmas.
See you again in the new year!

It seems that at some point during every major holiday, I find my self at a Waffle House.

For the past two years I have been served a fabulous Christmas Dinner at one of their many fine diners. Most people enjoy mashed potatoes, I just enjoyed mine scattered, smothered and covered (If you don’t know the lingo you simply must eat there!)
Last Christmas, I got a real treat and we ate there for Lunch and Dinner– Always nice. The year before I was pregnant with Carley and did not feel like cooking– It was the waffle for me that visit. Two eggs over medium with a side of sausage!
It never fails and this year was no exception. Thanksgiving dinner at the Waffle House. Now, not to insult grandma or anything. She made a fabulous thankgiving dinner the day before (she was working on thanksgiving– hospitals never close) and leftovers for lunch were great the next day. But I had a real hankerin’ for Waffle House. I had not eaten there since last Christmas and I was missing this restaurant.
So this year I am giving my thanks to this great place and all the wonderful people who work there. I could not have made it through at least 3 straight years of holidays without you.
All kidding aside, I am deeply sorry that your corporation has not decided to place one of your fine establishments in Midland.

Once again my fellow readers I have neglected this spot. Mostly because I am moving into my busy season at work and I am utterly swamped. I am even going to break my cardinal rule of never working on the weekends, and go in for a few hours tomorrow (I am even missing a scrap night because of work!). To top that I am still sick. I went back to the doctor today and I not only still have pneumonia but I also have a sinus infection. yeah for me. So I will be MIA for another week! But I hope to be back soon enough.

I am finally feeling better and as I return to my helm at the computer I did a quick download of the camera.
I was downloading the camera and expecting only two photos for download but instead I downloaded 19. Someone else took some pictures. Let’s see what was there:

Good picture of a blue sky through a screen

Another really good screen shot

Just in case you were wondering what was under my bed (someone needs to get under there and do some cleaning)

AHH HAA– Tigger’s hiding spot under the bed was found and a close up was taken. This required the suspect to actually crawl under the bed. (This rules out me or Jeff!) Tigger looks like he wants to say “don’t you know I get under here to get away from you. Now leave me alone!”

Can you still see me and will you please just leave me alone!

A picture of a baby blanket and my dirty socks. How nice.
You have been viewing random photos taken by some member of this family. Any guesses which one?
I have my usual suspects but they are not talking.
