Ft. Davis Trip

June 30th, 2007

We just got back from a trip to Davis Texas. There are actually mountains in west Texas a short 200 miles from Midland. We visited the actual Ft. Davis that was used after the Civil war to defend the road from San Antonio to El Paso from Indian raids during the gold rush to California.

We also went to the McDonald Observatory and had a star party. We toured the big telescope and looked at saturns rings, jupiters moon, venus and other bodies. We stayed at the Hotel Limpia, very cute and charming place. We are already thinking about going back and camping there this fall when the weather is a bit cooler
